双筒烘干机是一种直接传热式的回转式烘干机，主要是由内简体、外筒体、托轮、轮带支承装置、传动装置、进料进气、卸料出气密封装置等组成(见下页图)，其结构主要有两大特点：(1)筒体由两个同一轴线的内，外筒组成。内筒体为圆锥形简体，外简体是由法兰螺栓固定联接的两个半圆组成的直简体。在两个筒体壁上分别配置专用螺旋板、扬料板和导向卸料板。这一结构的创新是内循环烘干机设计的一大突破，在保证物料烘干工艺所需时间的前提下，整机长度缩短40％，筒体空间充分被烘干物料与热烟气热交换，避免高温气流热量的直接流失，也减少外部散热的损失，并解决了内、外筒体壁上扬料板的检修问题。(2)简体的支承和传动装置做了较大的改进。该机采用外径较大的轮带、托轮支承；传动采用边缘传动，使安装、操作极为简便，运行也更为可靠，运转率达95％以上。
